About this deal

Parlick is a mountain summit in the Ingleborough to Blackpool region in the county of Lancashire, England. Views over well farmed land towards Cockerham Marsh and the coast to the west and Bowland hills to the east. The trig is next to a bit of a grotty pond but we did see a pair of reed buntings near to Norbrick Farm.

Today we’re in hot pursuit of the maximum number of trig points — visits to the pillars of concrete you see every so often in the countryside. The summit can be identified by: grass mound Additional Notes: All the walks up Barnacre Moor on Mud and Routes can be seen above.

We asked to see the pictures of the trig points you’ve found on your successful climbs around the UK. There are well-established footpaths and trails that traverse the fell, allowing visitors to explore its woodlands, moorlands, and panoramic viewpoints. Go through a gap in wall into an area with trees and then follow the path directly above the reservoir with good view of dam. Trig points, or trigonometrical stations to give them their proper name, are a common sight and much-loved feature of Britain’s hills. Followed the footpath through Norbreck farmyard and up a small rise for an easy bag on a gloriously sunny day.

I think that arises from the variety of locations; some are next to a road and others significant distances over pathless moorland. We love the views across to the Black Mountains and naming all the peaks and ridges that we can see. The OS maps – and map apps – that many hikers and runners use are based on this Retriangulation process, although today most new measurements are done by GPS. The summit can be identified by: large cairn Additional Notes: All the walks up Heald Brow on Mud and Routes can be seen above.Whether for the view or for the challenge, climbing the mountainous peaks in Lancashire is the best way to experience more of this beautiful region. This smaller file lists the pillars and some roof bolts in the primary network, whose measurement led to the seamless mapping we enjoy today. You will not a lot of new houses in this area, which have been built on land previously occupied by industry. The categories are fairly self explanatory - my reading of "Converted" is that it was a pillar that has been converted to a different type of survey monument, e.

The Black Rock Mill complex, a site owned by Whitecroft Limited (previously the Bleachers’ Association Limited), was last operated in the 1950s as a bleach and print works. I took the view that if I didn’t have photographic evidence then I couldn’t include it in my “bagged” list. Clitheroe Castle Hill is a mountain summit in the The South Pennines from Liverpool to Nottingham region in the county of Lancashire, England. I've now added a list of all the trig points I've visited over the years, along with an interactive map of their locations.Top of Blaze Moss is a mountain summit in the Ingleborough to Blackpool region in the county of Lancashire, England. I have found many people overlook this part of the blog which is often more interesting than the original post! After 75m turn left, through the stile gate and take the path across the field to another stile gate.

To the best of my knowledge the routes are entirely on public rights of way or within areas that are open for public access. Not proper rain but just enough to make my run along the route feel like it was perhaps not going to be completed. Once all the trig point positions were accurately documented then they were used to measure all the other features. Then a short walk towards the plantation on a track rejoicing with the name Shivering Ginnel , Not much to see in the mist from the top. Staring at an OS map it occurred to me my home in Marsden was surrounded by Trig points at some pretty good locations – and so the 6 Trigs circular was born!
