About this deal
Prepare to fall head over heels in love with Ugly Love, a story that delves deep into the complexities of desire, loss, and the healing power of love. Hoover's willingness to explore the darker aspects of love and life sets her apart, allowing readers to connect with her characters on a profound level.
Best-selling Hoover’s latest valiant and compelling…novel packs her trademark emotional punch… The power and pain of the relationship will stay with readers even as Hoover offers hope.Growing up witness to a father who abused her mother, Lily always swore to herself she would never be such a woman, and yet now she finds herself making allowances for Ryle time and time again. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up―she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. Ultimately, this story is about finding the strength to break such a cycle, and I think Colleen did a good job of showing Lily's journey to this point.
If someone ever told me this book was sad, that would be the one most confusing statement I would ever hear because nothing about this book was sad, I would not shed air for this book, it was trash writing, and ever trashier characters (NOT Atlas). I particularly liked the emphasis on cycles and patterns of abuse, how Lily found herself in the same situation as her mother all those years ago, and the fact that we have glimpses into Lily's childhood helps to gain a deeper insight into her character and background. She has won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance three years in a row—for Confess 2015, It Ends with Us 2016, and Without Merit 2017 Confess was adapted into a seven-episode online series.
I mean, sure, it touches on some essential topics like abuse, but other than that, I didn't find anything particularly outstanding about the book. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. She stays with Atlas for a few days while Ryle leaves the country for a fellowship, and eventually moves back home while Ryle is still out of the country. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year.
