About this deal

All the pictures were blurry and of random things, and they weren't necessarily pretty, and didn't really add anything to the poems. The magnificent beauty of I Wrote This For You is quite simply this: the book is elegantly incomplete without you. There’s no real connection between the chapters, though you can try hard to find some, or even fool yourself into believing there is, but they are all separate pieces.

This book gathers together nearly 200 of the most beautiful entries into four distinct chapters; Sun, Moon, Stars, Rain. i didn't know much about it, except the esoteric description it had (which is brilliant, alluring, etc. Thomas, who together with photographer Jon Ellis , created the worldwide smash success I Wrote This For You , a collection of personal, anonymous poetry and photography. You have just gathered the shattered divine chakras that are confined to heal your own pathetic emotional wounds.

But the thing as a whole was just so much of the same, and it felt like the punch line to every single piece was 'for YOU'; I mean, even the title follows that formula. While focusing on the words from the project, new photography launches each section which portray everyone’s journey through the world: Love Found, Being In Love, Love Lost, Hope, Despair, Living and Dying. Best known for the I Wrote This For You project, which he began in 2007 with photographer partner, Jon Ellis, his other books include I Am Incomplete Without You, 300 Things I Hope, Intentional Dissonance, How To Be Happy: Not A Self-Help Book and more.

The photographs, the chapter titles, and the entries themselves all work together beautifully to really tug at your heart strings.I was so delighted that there's an available reading copy, thus I immediately grab the opportunity to download it. Elvis was born again in a small village in Sudan, he died hungry, age 9, never knowing what a guitar was. This book employs poetry placed next to photographs, which I was excited for, but it fell completely flat. A picture is worth a thousand words in itself, each adding to and morphing meaning behind the poetry. If you are cynic then this is not for you because you'll just find that the prose and poetry came from a depressed person but I dig this kind of thing; it doesn't need to rhyme, just pure honest feelings.

Having had some time to think about this, I feel like this style of poems/quotes works better and has greater impact when each is viewed alone. While it focuses on the words, it does feature some selected photography at the start of each chapter from my friend and traveling companion, Jon, the photographer. I think that feeling we feel when we do that, is the feeling of some small part of us, knowing another part of it is near. It feels like the space between the hug you give someone you love, whether that’s a parent or a child, or sibling or a friend. Now, given the fact that I went looking for something like The Lover’s Dictionary, a comparison of some sort is natural, though unfair.

It was such a simple beautiful artistic exprience , connecting these deeply expressed emotions with these views and drown in feelings and places . This printed edition contains around 400 (I'm not sure, I haven't counted) entries from the I Wrote This For You project, including many from the first book, many entries that were written after the first book was published, and several things I wrote while I was away that only appear here in this book. Imagine that the douchey, fakely profound guy in your psych 101 class and the worst, equally fakely profound girl in your poetry class that your professor for some stupid reason thinks is a genius had a one night stand that resulted in a baby. I like this kind of style to combine photography and literature because I also use it on my poems except the pictures are borrowed. He lives in Cape Town, South Africa and shares his home with his wife, daughter and various animals. I highlighted a few lines here and there, but it nothing that made me think too hard or sit back and go "whoa.
