Happily there were zero problems with synchronization when listening to both a SoundTouch 10 and a SoundTouch 30 in a simulated house environment. dual-band wi-fi, the connection is stronger and more reliable, with the addition of 5GHz compatibility catering for more stable streaming. The app scrolls through huge music libraries without much hesitation – I whizzed down a list of more than 900 albums on my NAS drive and it needed only a brief pause when it reached “M”. These functions are carried out through Bose’s SoundTouch controller app, available for iOS and Android devices.
I’m also taken aback by how loud and powerful it is, filling a cavernous living room without really breaking a sweat. A silver panel below the OLED display adds a touch of glamour, while an illuminated Wi-Fi icon at the top tells you it’s online. Sound from devices plugged in to a host system with SoundTouch built-in can be rebroadcast to a group.
It also gives you a new option-Unique to SoundTouch with which you can set your favourite music to six presets and the system at home will remember it. There is currently no way to play music on multiple speakers using just your voice with the Bose Skill. At around two minutes and 30 seconds the song features a slow descending bass line and the Bose displayed audible port noise, or distortion, from the very first note of the progression.
