About this deal

His con man friend makes a foolish bet with Diggstown's owner on who'd win the boxing matches - their man against ten Diggstown men. Ex-con Gabriel Caine and partner Fitz cook up a plan to take rich Diggstown resident John Gillon for all he’s worth. Subtitles: Danish, Dutch, English Hard of Hearing, Finnish, French, Norwegian, Swedish DVD Regions: Region 2 Formats: Pal Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 1. His reasons for taking down the bad guy are sincere and played out well making him slightly more complex than just a con man trying to win big money.

Der frisch aus dem Knast gekommene Kunstfälscher Gabriel Caine (James Woods) wettet mit dem reichsten Mann von Diggstown John Gillon (Bruce Dern), dass der 48 jährige Boxer Roy Palmer (Louis Gosett Jr.Caine finds himself a contender (Louis Gossett Jnr) and bets the crooked boss of Diggstown that his man can beat ten fighters in 24 hours. Two small edge tears on the bottom edge, crease from the left edge center up to the top edge, Otherwise Very Good! But just when all looks lost, Caine whistles at Torres, gets his attention, straightens his tie and does a thumbs-down gesture (copying a move Gillon did earlier).

Palmer looks done for, but he gets new motivation after seeing Diggs, who is sitting courtside, move his hand slightly (which he interprets as a show of support). Caine discovers that Gillon's treachery (and his bank account) goes deeper than Diggstown people know. The film is a little patchy, it starts off quite light hearted and played for laughs, and indeed there is an imaginative fart gag that`s worth waiting for. In 'Midnight Sting' (1992), ex-con Gabriel Caine (James Wood) heads for Diggstown, a place where unofficial boxing matches are held for big prize money. Doing time has proved to be a valuable learning experience where he first heard of Diggstown, the rural capital of illegal cash fighting, which, as a gambling venture, is a con artist’s dream. Gillon moved him in as a county resident just before the bet rules were established, meaning that Hagan can legally fight.

Gabriel Caine ( James Woods), a con man, is released from prison in Winfield, Georgia and immediately gets to work on his next scam. He is feared by many but also respected because he is the former manager of Diggstown's pride and joy, the once-famous boxer Charles Macom Diggs, the man for whom the town is named. Diggstown is taken from our vast archive of rare publicity stills, portrait photographs and transparencies. From the opening scenes we get to witness how the fast talking sleek Gabriel runs hustles within the prison and from there the film entertains at every turn. Based on a tip by his cellmate, Wolf Forrester (Randall "Tex" Cobb), Caine heads for Diggstown, Georgia, a small town run by the ruthless John Gillon (Bruce Dern).Robby Gillon, the son of John Gillon, approaches the ring next, but then backs out under instructions from his father. However, the story does take a sinister turn that is a little unexpected given the initially frivolous nature of the script. Oliver Platt provides good support as Gabe`s partner Fitz, and there is an early appearance from Heather Graham as Emily Forrester, the sister of a fellow convict.
