About this deal

There are some ridiculous levels of drug consumption that are occasionally hard to believe and it does become quite dark but there is always a funny scene/anecdote not far away.

We ambled backstage post-performance, and the Fall’s frontman was casually sat at the end of a bench wearing a white shirt and black leather jacket, hunched over a bottle. Linda Troeller is an award-winning photographer acclaimed for her exhibitions about living at the legendary Hotel Chelsea. Despite what is clearly a golden ticket out he manages to waste a big chance to break free of his working-class insecurities. Co-written with lucidity and humour by singer Lias Saoudi and acclaimed author Adelle Stripe, Ten Thousand Apologies is that rare thing: a music book that barely features any music, a biography as literary as any novel, and a confessional that does not seek forgiveness. As Stripe perceptively points there are no care packages for bands, which has a catastrophic effect on their ability to do their day jobs or sort their increasingly seedy lives out.Suddenly you find yourself with two sets of friends, one half of which renders you a turncoat with the other, less fortunate half. Actually, Lias’s description of that festival – the grubby glamour, the sweaty tent – is so accurate that it could bring on a sympathetic nervous breakdown. He’s the main source of what happened when and to whom, and personally takes over the storytelling in the italicised parts of the book.

After their parents split up, the young Saoudi boys move with their mother to Northern Ireland, to Cookstown, a narrow-minded loyalist stronghold. This is not just a music Bio, we cover the Saoudi brothers multicultural upbringing of a mixed Algerian Berber father and Yorkshire mother and the trials and tribulations that that caused in such places as Northern Ireland when their parents split and their mother took them to live there with her new husband. Her debut novel, BLACK TEETH AND A BRILLIANT SMILE, was shortlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize and Portico Prize for Literature. A book to dash the ridiculous modern idea that artists are this benevolent class of creatives separate from or more enlightened than the rest of society…and therefore a book the culture was desperately in need of.

But this is also an effect of the searing honesty and piercing self-analysis which is a hallmark of “Ten Thousand Apologies”.

Bewonderingswaardig, was het niet dat ze allemaal een eigen sterke wil hebben, zich volstouwen met drugs en veel slechte beslissingen maken. And that they find the right way to soothe the turmoil in their sarcastic, artistic, political, absolutely nutted, still homeless souls. Smith" that forms part of the blurb and by the fact that Adelle's previous work, 'Black Teeth', was spectacular, that Fat White Family are flippin' aces and that White Rabbit consistently put out the best music books to be found on our shelves. stick to your guns once they show you the slightest bit of attention; it goes too well with the cocaine you’re forever sniffing. The almost unplayable 2nd album I will give a few more plays as it gets better and better, that is a challenge I like; the debut I have enjoyed but needs more plays.
