About this deal

The passive isolation provided by their in-ear design does very little to block out low-frequency sounds like engine rumble. I cranked up the volume on it and it kind of gets loud but I thought the bass started to gradually get distorted. There's a slight bump in the phase mismatch in the mid-mid that causes vocals and instruments to sound wider and more expansive on the right side, but this is difficult to notice using regular, real-life content.

Taking the Zero's sound as a whole, it doesn't work as well with tracks like Brett Young's "Here Tonight" where you have a combination of kick drums, electric guitars, and cymbals crashing. They pack a lot of punch and thump in the low end, but if you're looking for a pair of affordable IEMs with more balanced bass, it's worth trying the MOONDROP Aria. I was so anxious to start listening to these but imagine my surprise when the first track sounded anything but correct.

AS16 Pro have a big housing compared to Zero:Red, but a similar shape, so they’re equally comfy to users with regular ear sizes.

For most people, waifus are just a fun and casual thing, but with some, it can have a romantic undertone. Following on from that, I gave these a 4/5 for noise cancellation but they block out a lot of sound. Not that it sounds like one, but rather that the RED is accurate and timbrally correct in a way that is hard to argue against. Then we get to the pre-formed ear hooks and the only issue I have with the cable whereby it's too firm and aggressively curved. Both have detachable cables with ear hooks, but the one with AS16 Pro is stiffer and has a less premium feeling. Good thing the Topping L50 II HPA is stable to at least 12 ohm, as shown in your review, and it has the power to drive the TCZ. The dual-driver design has one driver dedicated just to bass, so this range has plenty of boom and slam - a great match for electronic, hip-hop, and beat-heavy music. I personally prefer something less tightly braided so it’s smoother to touch but that’s my own obsessively small nitpick.
