About this deal

T found the aliens particularly funny, especially when they were hiding in plain sight as Bob went about his business! This book tells the story of Dougal who can't wait to finish his day at work as the next day his holidays start. Although at first it doesn't jump out as a 'typical' children's story as the illustrations are of an older style, this is what makes it unique and also what draws the children to it. The factual presentation works really well as does the reality tv-style look into Bob’s day – it’s a very clever device and allows for lots of humour, particularly when combined with the magnificent illustrations. Bob is a wonderful character and the story itself is simplistic enough to engage any child from three years upwards.

Man on the Moon: A Day in the Life of Bob (newly re-issued by Templar) is a truly wonderful piece of art and story alike.Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. It follows the story of Bob, an ordinary man with the extra-ordinary job of keeping the moon clean and entertaining moon tourists. Simon Bartram (author and illustrator) fully engages an audience of any age, you will never tire of reading this story.

Since then, it's been a hilarious staple of night time reading, day time reading, Daddy reading to himself, and just general conversation between our children and ourselves. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Anyone who liked Toy Story will fall for Bob, for Bartram's artlessly clever prose and the big, bold, wonderfully-detailed illustrations. Hmm: who’s that stealing Bob’s cake at his picnic, sneaking onto the space-bus and splashing around in his bath?I can imagine this story would be wonderful to teach in a Primary setting as there are many directions you could take with the concept of the 'man on the moon' - Space topics, looking at difference and developing visual literacy, among them.

was the 15th anniversary of the creation of Bob, Man on the Moon, celebrate with this anniversary edition. Simon Bartram has illustrated four children's books, including PUMPKIN MOON, about which PUBLISHERS WEEKLY said, "Bartram reinvents David Weisner's TUESDAY with grimacing jack-o-lanterns and a hellfire orange gleam. Does the book contain anything that teachers would wish to know about before recommending in class (strong language, sensitive topics etc.Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. And Bob manages all of this whilst apparently blissfully unaware of some rather huge and important information! Every year, Queen Battleaxe picks one unlucky astronaut to host her birthday party and now Bob has the horrible honour.

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. The text and the pictures are well connected supporting each other, however they have their own life too: the story can be read without looking at any of the pictures, and as the book is richly illustrated it is very easy to make up your own storyline without reading. Readers will delight in spotting all of the aliens that Bob misses noticing as he goes about his work as the man on the moon. Our 35 th original show was also our first co-production with Swindon’s Sixth Sense Theatre Company, inspired by the book of the same name by Simon Bartram.
